Why we started Renouri
A student-led voice for eating disorder awareness
As students, we began noticing how often conversations around food, body image, and appearance were treated as normal parts of growing up. Comments about eating, weight, exercise, and body image can seem harmless, but behind them can be something much deeper.
At the same time, eating disorders are often misunderstood. They aren't simply about food or appearance, and they don't always look the way people expect. Many people struggle silently, while those around them may not recognize the signs or know how to respond.
We created Renouri because we believe awareness can be the beginning of change.
Our name represents renewal and nourishment—not just nourishing the body, but creating space to rebuild a healthier relationship with food, ourselves, and the people around us.
As a student-led organization, our goal is to make conversations about eating disorders more open, informed, and compassionate. We want to challenge misconceptions, educate our peers, encourage early recognition, and remind people that struggling doesn't have to be something they experience in silence.
Renouri is rooted in one belief: recovery begins with being seen, understood, and supported.
